Shakeology Now In Stock

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Shakeology is my protein shake of choice.  Just one scoop every morning gets me my greens, reds, probiotics, vitamins, proteins and everything else you'd pop a pill for.  It takes 5 minutes to make and rinse the blender.  Delicious chocolate flavor tastes like a piece of cake!  A 30 day supply bag can be yours for just $120...cheaper than a smoothie or egg sandwich - healthier and easier.  Call or email the office to order yours and it will be ready for you the next day!  Cash only, please.

No Heat? Try Some Jumping Jacks!

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Many of us in the tri state area are still without heat or hot water....and we are the lucky ones to still have a roof over our heads.  If you're cold, and have electricity, turn the oven on to heat the house (like our mothers did over 40 years ago).  Still cold?  Try doing 20 jumping jacks at a time.  It will get your blood cooking and circulating and you'll do your cardiovascular system some good while warming up!  20 Jacks every hour for 8 hours....that's quite the cardio!  I'm taking a break for a few days, so I'll catch up with all of you on Tuesday.  Have a great weekend and stay safe and warm!  Over and out.

It's Lunchbox Time

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Today's lunchbox contains alfalfa sprouts, red quiona with spicy olives, grilled eggplant, peppers, onions and tomatoes from the garden.  All followed by luscious clementines...yummy!  Pack your own delicious and nutritious lunch.  You'll make your coworkers drool, you'll lose weight, save money and stay healthy.  What are you having for lunch today?  Or are you having a slice off the street roach coach???

The Psycho-Emotive of Training Successfully

Some folks ask me how I do what I do when I am injured, tired, or...just at my age manage to do what some 25 year olds could only dream of doing.  The answer is this:  I am a trained fighter.  I am trained to focus, not blink or shrink from an opponent, to show no emotion and stay clear on what my goals are.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you want to perform a sport better, train more efficiently or win a competition, you need to address the psychological and emotional side of who you are.  Imagery exercises can help you....stand in front of a mirror when you are alone and imagine you performing your sport, training or event.  Imagine how you will feel during the physical exertion;  drive your mind through the obstacles - both mental and physical and visualize yourself successfully finishing first in the race, scoring a 72 at the golf course, winning the fight and getting the prize.  Training your mind is equally as important when training your body for any sport or event.

Push The Envelope and Challenge Yourself

After two weeks of taking it a bit easy, yesterday it was back to my Insanity workout program.  It really felt good to sweat and workout to the max again!  Just when I thought I was about to run out of 'juice', I heard one of my old trainer's voice in my head saying to me, 'is that all you got?  The other guy is training harder than you are and only one of you will win a fight'.  That just puts in all into perspective - I decided to suck it up and let's face it....we can all do anything for another 14 or 15 minutes if we push ourselves (given that we have no heart conditions or other serious health conditions).  So, it was down for more suicides, pushups, ski abs and whatever else there was to do.  I felt great afterward....a Winner never quits.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  It's good to take a little time off and relax, smell the flowers and lie in the sun like a lazy dog.  But after a short spell, it's time to get that rested body back to the business at hand.  A llittle rest and relaxation can go a long way....you'll be surprised when you get back into your normal routine how much more you can push yourself and how far you'll be able to stretch your limits to new lengths.

It's Planting Season...Are You In Shape For It?

These 60 plants are my new friends that have just arrived from White Flower Farms in Litchfield, CT.  I'm heading outta Dodge early today to embark on a 3 day digging and planting project to beautify the front lawn of a friend's business.  I've been doing situps, pushups and all types of exercises this winter and I'm in fine form to take on this manual labor...and enjoy it!

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  I'm looking forward to outdoor projects, sports and all types of activities this spring and summer.  I'm fit and feeling fabulous - how about you?  If you're not there yet, call or email my office and enroll  yourself into my wellness program.  You, too, can enjoy the warm weather fun and festivities if you start now!

I Believe, I Believe!

Remember when Tinker Bell and Peter Pan flew high in the sky and anything was possible?  It was because they BELIEVED they could fly; they believed that anything was possible.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Believe in yourself.  Believe you can be healthy and happy.  Believe that, if you try, you can achieve greatness - no matter how large or small the endeavor.  When you believe in yourself, you become an inspiration to others - they will believe in themselves because they believe you.  BE your WORD.  If you say you will exercise, then do it.  If you say you are the possibility of fitness and health and will eat accordingly, then DO IT.  No excuses...those are for losers.  You don't want to be one of those, do you?

Getting Back Into Your Fat Pants Can Be A Good Thing!

This morning, I pulled a pair of my old 'fat pants' out of the closet to see if and how they would fit.  They fit really well and I was so happy!  WHY???  Because my 'REALLY fat pants' were becoming too big on me.  Now, I'm back to being into my 'just fat pants'.  This is a transitional phase:  I hope that in another 4 weeks or so, I will be ready to wear my 'normal' pants again.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Weight loss and fitness doesn't' happen in a day; it's a process.  Take baby steps - create small goals every week for yourself and you'll be surprised what giant leaps you make over time!  All my patients in my Wellness Program have lost between 6 and 18 pounds since January 3rd.  I'm on the party wagon to wellness with them.  If you want to get out of your REALLY FAT PANTS and back into your 'just fat pants', contact the office and sign up for the best program of your life...today!

Staying With Your Resolutions

I'm well into week 2 of my Insanity 90 Day Challenge.  Exercising to these dvds 6 days a week and abstaining from alcohol and gluten (my own self-inflicted torture) and partaking in a very clean dietary regime is hard work.  It takes planning meals, shopping wisely and a daily lunch bucket to schlep to the office.   At the end of each day, I feel better than the previous day and proud of myself to stick with the program.  I am a team leader and coach for Beachbody.com and I have a few people doing this challenge with me....we're all in it as a team - encouraging oneanother and checking in on the internet daily to keep ourselves going strong.  I'm loving the experience and the enthusiasm of the group is uplifting.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you're feeling lonely and losing your momentum with your New Year's regime, pick up the phone or get onto the internet - create a team, join a team or if you like, join my Beachbody.com team.  You don't have to being doing one of the beachbody programs.  You can do your own thing and check in with me daily or weekly.  YOU GET FREE COACHING!  How can you beat it?

Work Out, Eat Right, Reap the Rewards

Everybody always talks about getting into that swimsuit or miniskirt in time for the warmer weather.  Well, have you ever considered getting back into that fabulous fall skirt or Zegna suit?  Today, I began switching the summer clothes out of the closet and bringing the seasonal items in.  I decided to try on a few items that had no longer fit last year, but I was too stubborn to give up on either myself or my great clothing.  Much to my surprise, those fabulous Armani skirts fit nicely again, as well as some other amazing pieces.  I'm a happy camper...all that hard work is paying off just in time for fantastic Fall fashion.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Workout, eat right, don't fall into the cooler weather trap of heavier foods and exercising less.  You should want to look and feel great all year long.  Remember, those silly holidays are coming and, if you're like me, you'll want to escape to someplace warm during those days.  What better way to prepare for a winter getaway than to keep up the good work!

Weight Training For Health

Did you know that stronger people live longer healthier lives?  Strong muscle mass is a leading factor in regulating your blood sugar.  The energy spent during weight training burns beaucoup calories, which leads to overall weight loss.  Weight training is also beneficial to building stronger bone mass, which will help you during your senior silver years.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you're enrolled in a weight training program, stick with it!  If you're not doing any type of exercise, join a gym, purchase a few sessions with a qualified trainer and get yourself going with circuit training.  You'll feel better, look better and you'll longer and healthier.

Water and Weight Loss

I'm always asked the question 'if I drink more water, will I lose more weight?'

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Substituting water for calorie-containing beverages might help you lose weight.  If you drink appoximately 2 cups of water before each meal, you might lose more weight over a 12 week period than the person who doesn't drink the added 2 cups of water pre-prandial.
There will be no blog tomorrow or on Monday July 4th.  I'm goin' fishin', golfin', garden', ridin' and relaxing!  Happy 4th!

You Can Never Learn Enough

I recently went for advanced training for orthopedic pathologies/sports injuries.  I've done hundreds of treatments over the years to treat various orthopedic conditions/sports injuries, but my philosophy is...you can never learn enough, you can never know everything.  I returned from a grueling week of intensive training and learning and was able to successfully begin to repair a torn tendinous tear in a patient's rotator cuff yesterday.  The patient is so happy that his pain is relieved by over 60% and his range of motion improved by over 40% with just one treatment, he is referring me to other potential clients just one day after treatment.  I'm delighted....I learned something new, I applied my craft and made the quality of life for another person more complete.  This is what excites me; puts a smile on my face; completes my day.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  You can never know everything.  Get yourselves enrolled in a class or seminar and learn something new.  You will enrich your lives, broaden your spectrum of thinking and knowledge and at the end of the day, you just might light up someone else's life with your new found learning!

Eat That Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage and Cress

The cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, cress) all possess Indole-3-carbinol (I3C), a chemical that could be effective in the promotion of weight loss and weight control.  Nutrition, 27:463-470, 2011, published the results of a Taiwanese study on obese mice.  The researchers found that when the specimens' diets were supplemented with I3C, their overall weight, body fat, blood sugar, insulin and markers of inflammation were greatly reduced.  These same cruciferous vegetables have been also linked to the prevention of cancer and heart disease.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Listen to, or remember what your mother told you...eat your broccoli!  It's not only good for you, it will fill you up while helping you to lose some weight!
