Acupuncture A Very Effective Treatment For Groin Pulls

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Groin pulls are more common in men than women and can be not only quite painful, but a damper on everyday quality of life.  Here's the good news:  acupuncture is very effective for the treatment of groin pulls.  Rarely is one treatment the miracle fro complete recovery, but typically, four (4) sessions - once or twice weekly - to eight (8) sessions can get you from miserable to moving again.  So, don't delay...call or email the office today and get your life back!

SO...You Wrenched Your Back...Again...

You played that Saturday morning tennis match or round of golf....thought you were Serena Williams or Tiger Woods and really went for that tough shot....now it's Sunday morning and you can't move without yelping in pain and realize I don't work weekends.  What's a doggie to do???

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  How many times have I had patients call early Monday morning because they wrenched their backs out on Saturday morning and haven't been able to move since then.  How many times have I suggested daily yoga, stretching and a weekly acupuncture session to ensure this doesn't happen?  If you listen to what I tell you to do, and come in for your weekly treatments, you would improve your game....not regress.  If you come in for treatments only when you are injured, you defeat the purpose of your game - to get better, stronger, faster and much more precise.  Get with the program today:  exercise, stretch and come in for weekly sessions!

Acupuncture For Post Surgical Recovery

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you are scheduled to have surgery or have just had a procedure, call or email the office today and schedule an appointment.  Acupuncture treatments can greatly impact the speed of recovery by improving blood and lymphatic circulation to the affected region, increase collagen production and muscle reparation.  Just ask any of my patients who experienced rapid recovery and are enjoying their favorite sport and a fabulous quality of life - pain free and with little or no residual effects post surgery.

Acupuncture for the Acupuncturist

Yesterday, I went to see a colleague for my own acupuncture session.  Yes, even I am affected by the change of weather; every injury I've ever sustained has come back to haunt me this past week.  After my session, I felt so relaxed and free of any aches and pains; I was happy to go back to my office, have a nice cup of tea, lots of water and look forward to a good book at the end of my day.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  the weather is changing and the wind is picking up.  Don't wait until you're achey-breaky; schedule an appointment today for an Autumn Tune Up.  You'll feel wonderful, and your immune system will get a boost, so you'll be able to fight off any typical Autumn colds.

You Can Never Learn Enough

I recently went for advanced training for orthopedic pathologies/sports injuries.  I've done hundreds of treatments over the years to treat various orthopedic conditions/sports injuries, but my philosophy is...you can never learn enough, you can never know everything.  I returned from a grueling week of intensive training and learning and was able to successfully begin to repair a torn tendinous tear in a patient's rotator cuff yesterday.  The patient is so happy that his pain is relieved by over 60% and his range of motion improved by over 40% with just one treatment, he is referring me to other potential clients just one day after treatment.  I'm delighted....I learned something new, I applied my craft and made the quality of life for another person more complete.  This is what excites me; puts a smile on my face; completes my day.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  You can never know everything.  Get yourselves enrolled in a class or seminar and learn something new.  You will enrich your lives, broaden your spectrum of thinking and knowledge and at the end of the day, you just might light up someone else's life with your new found learning!

Does Acupuncture Improve Athletic Performance?

The Journal of Strength Conditioning Research, (24:1421-1427, 2010) reports that a study from the Near East University in Turkey concluded that acupuncture increases strength and power and causes physiological changes that can improve endurance.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If acupuncture has been used for over 2,000 on the greatest of martial artists to improve strength and power, it can help you too!  I have quite a number of professional athletes in my practice who see me on a regular basis to improve their running time, fight stamina, jumping abilities and overall vitality.  Whether you're a weekend warrior or yogi, acupuncture can work for you!

The Bee's Knees!

Yesterday, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill!  This was the first time I've been able to run in almost two years.
I am ecstatic - joyous!!
This morning, I woke up with no knee pain - a little stiff, but that's all.  I'm well on my way to those last few pounds before the 37 days are up.
What's been inspiring me?  This blog....putting it out to whoever would read about and share my journey.
You all out there in cyberspace who have sent me notes of encouragement and shared your own experiences are my fuel...thank you!
Let's keep up the momentum...Spring is just around the corner and the warm weather is going to grace us this week here in NYC.  Maybe, just maybe, I'll be back on that jumprope by the weekend!
See you all out there!
