Serenity During the Holiday Madness

My office has been a bit busier the past month.  New clients are coming in every day because they have read or heard from someone that acupuncture can truly relax and destress a person.  Yes - this is very true.  These 'newbies' to acupuncture not only leave feeling relaxed, but are also finding out that during follow up sessions, their hypothyroidism, heart health, diabetes, M.S. and many other pathologies can be treated drug free with acupuncture.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Call or email the office today and make an appointment to destress yourself.  Give the gift of wellness to the most important person in your life - you!

Be Guiltless About Your Workouts

So, now that you've been engaged in your exercise and wellness program and looking fabulous, have you noticed that some of your 'friends' are annoyed with your new lifestyle?  Do you often hear, 'why don't you skip the gym and come out drinking with us' or 'you're always on a diet or working out' or 'you're getting too skinny'?  Hmmm....sounds like your 'fat friends' don't like the idea that you're not part of the club anymore.  These people are not your friends, they're roadblocks to your success.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Keep your eyes on the prize.  Keep the vision of what you'd like to become very close in sight.  To the 'fat friends' and the people out there who would sabbotage your success, just be kind and tell them that your interests have changed and you are leading a different path in life.  Real friends are happy for your successes; lose the deadbeats who would hold you back.  Flush the negativity down the toilet and empty the trash out to the curb.  Your life will be cleaner, lighter and without bad karma.

Wow! It's November!!!

Holy Smokes!  It's November 1st!  I'm just back from a weekend filled with Halloween fun and fantasy and have arrived at the office to emails and telephone calls from patients who are already getting those nasty fall colds and stressing over holiday family get togethers.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  The change of seasons and stress lead to compromised immune systems.  This is how we get those nasty colds, flus and bouts of depression - especially during the onset and onslaught of holiday season.  Boost your immune system and de-stress yourself by coming in for a treatment today.  If you are physically and mentally balanced, you will be better equipped to handle the stress and drama of the holidays.  You will not become physically ill, nor will you become depressed.
Here's another tip for you:  Don't be a turkey!  Just because it's called a 'holiday'  doesn't mean you have to spend it with people you don't like (that's like doing time in prison), even if they're called 'family'.  Spend your holidays with people you like, or volunteer to help others that have nothing....or, better yet, spend the day and have a 'me' day!! Do all those things you always want to, but never seem to have the time because you're always so busy.

Increased Oxygen Intake Important for Any Activity

Very often, I suggest yoga to many of my patients for a myriad of reasons.  Flexibility, strength, prenatal health, stress relief...the list could go on and on of the benefits to doing yoga.  But, if you suffer from asthma, COPD or always seem like you just can't catch your breath, you too, can benefit from yoga.
Yogic breathing (there are several types) allows the body to intake its maximum amount of air.  This translates to the production of fresh oxygenated red blood cells, which in turn lead to the regeneration and nutrition of connective tissue, nerve tissue, muscles, hormones, and good health.  For the person who suffers from any type of pulmonary condition, yogic breathing allows for the steady inhalation and exhalation motion of the lungs.  Fresh air fills even the bottom-most portions of the lungs, giving nutrition and inflation to the lower bronchioles, thereby reducing inflamation and increasing inspiration.  This in turn, leads to better breathing, less stress and a better qualtiy of life.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you or someone you know suffers from asthma, COPD or shortness of breath, why not sign you and your suffering buddy up for a nice gentle healing yoga class.  You will both notice a difference in your energy, breathing ability and quality of sleep almost immediately!

Know When to Say "No"

Lately, many of my clients have been speaking of 'toxic' relationships in their lives - whether it be their relationship with their job, coworkers, spouses, friends, or neighbors.  These great people stress, suffer from  insomnia, lose weight, become ill because of their diminished immune systems, and waste valuable hours of their lives ruminating how to negociate thru these toxic relationships.   Acupuncture alleviates the physical manifestations of this toxicity and can eliminate the unhealthy side effects stemming from their stress.  It leaves them with an overall feeling of balance and calm.
Yesterday, a patient of mine who has been seeing me on a regular basis for quite a number of years, and who has seen quite a bit of life, shared a great piece of advice that her mother gave her many years ago.  She told me to pass it on to others, so here it is:

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  "It's much easier to stay out than to get out."
Stay out of anything toxic at the onset and you won't have to worry about getting out.
If you've gotten yourself into a toxic situation, get out and get out fast!!

Pretty simple, I thought....but then again, life can be as easy as we want it to be.  It's all a matter of knowing when to say 'no' and when to 'let go'.  Detoxify yourselves today - you'll feel better sooner than you realize!

On Corporate Wellness

Let's keep it simple today.  If you own a business, or are a top level executive and you're getting fed up with smokers who take 2 hours per day to go outside for a break (that equals 40 hours per month time away from one's desk!), or losing productivity in the workplace because your staff is becoming sick (from stress and diminished immune system), I've got a solution for you!!

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Call or email my office and enquire about my Corporate Wellness Program.  Find out how just 30 minutes, once a week (onsite at your facility) for an employee can help increase productivity, reduce absenteeism, and create an optimum working environment for you and your staff.  It's cost-effective, time-effective and in the long run, will save you and your shareholders big bucks!!  Enable an employee to quite smoking and they'll be back at their desk instead of outside the building, they'll be healthier (so no sick days claimed), and they'll be much more productive!  And that's just the beginning of the program....
Be smart and get on the ball!  Call or email today!

Anxiety and Stress

Anxiety and stress....seems like all you hear from folks lately.  It's a poor global economic time we are living through, which most likely will not resolve for some time.....so we'd better get used to it.

Most people are cutting corners these days - eating out less frequently, not buying that extra pair of great strappy heels, the python bag, the new golf clubs; BUT DON'T SKIMP ON YOUR HEALTH!!!

Did you know that you could come to my office and for a mere $60 have a 30 minute auricular destressing treatment???  $60 isn't much to pay for a good night's sleep, fewer wrinkles, less agitation, and overall better health.  Let's not forget the blood pressure.

Make an appointment today.  Times are tough - do something about it!!
