Allery Season is Starting Early This Year

I have a few patients who have started treatment for seasonal rhinitis earlier than usual this year.  Because of all the rain and snow this past winter and spring, the pollen count has been quite high.  Now that the end of summer is nearing, all those lovely flowers, shrubs, trees and plantings are going to seed (just like this lovely flowerbed I started this year).

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Be smart like my patients!  Start treatments today for what I believe will be a very tough allergy season this year.  Why suffer when you can enjoy the autumn summer symptom-free??  The combination of acupuncture and herbal pills can prevent the symptoms of seasonal rhinitis before they make you miserable.  Call or email today for an appointment.

Increased Oxygen Intake Important for Any Activity

Very often, I suggest yoga to many of my patients for a myriad of reasons.  Flexibility, strength, prenatal health, stress relief...the list could go on and on of the benefits to doing yoga.  But, if you suffer from asthma, COPD or always seem like you just can't catch your breath, you too, can benefit from yoga.
Yogic breathing (there are several types) allows the body to intake its maximum amount of air.  This translates to the production of fresh oxygenated red blood cells, which in turn lead to the regeneration and nutrition of connective tissue, nerve tissue, muscles, hormones, and good health.  For the person who suffers from any type of pulmonary condition, yogic breathing allows for the steady inhalation and exhalation motion of the lungs.  Fresh air fills even the bottom-most portions of the lungs, giving nutrition and inflation to the lower bronchioles, thereby reducing inflamation and increasing inspiration.  This in turn, leads to better breathing, less stress and a better qualtiy of life.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you or someone you know suffers from asthma, COPD or shortness of breath, why not sign you and your suffering buddy up for a nice gentle healing yoga class.  You will both notice a difference in your energy, breathing ability and quality of sleep almost immediately!
