"A US study has shown that erectile dysfunction is more common in older men with RLS (restless leg syndrome)... The authors of the Helath Professionals Follow-up Study revealed that erectile dysfunction was 16% more likely in men with RLS symptoms that occurred five to 14 times per month and 78% more likely in men whose RLS symptoms occurred 15 or more times per month. (It has been) suggested that the association between RLS and erectile dysfunction could be related in part to sleep disturbance that co-occurs with RLS and which may be associated with decreaded circulating testosterone levels.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day: As men age, their bioavailability of testosterone decreases, while their levels of estrogen increase (this is andropause - the male version of menopause). This leads to symptoms of insomnia, night sweats, decreased quality of blood and blood circulation, dry and brittle hair and nails, wrinkling of skin and loss of muscle mass. Gentlemen...do what the ladies having been doing for themselves for years - regular acupuncture treatments and herbal pills for these symptoms will improve your sleep, stop the restless legs, improve your muscle tone and skin turgor, put the shine back into your hair and nails and help with your overall virility. Anxiety and Stress
Anxiety and stress....seems like all you hear from folks lately. It's a poor global economic time we are living through, which most likely will not resolve for some time.....so we'd better get used to it.
Most people are cutting corners these days - eating out less frequently, not buying that extra pair of great strappy heels, the python bag, the new golf clubs; BUT DON'T SKIMP ON YOUR HEALTH!!!
Did you know that you could come to my office and for a mere $60 have a 30 minute auricular destressing treatment??? $60 isn't much to pay for a good night's sleep, fewer wrinkles, less agitation, and overall better health. Let's not forget the blood pressure.
Make an appointment today. Times are tough - do something about it!!

Sleep More, Lose More, Think More!
The average American only sleeps 7 hours per evening. Did you know that the average number of sleeping hours you should get is 9?? Sleep (or lack of) affects so many areas of our daily lives.
Sleep is directly connected to losing weight because of cortisol metabolism. Loss of sleep is tied to reduced levels of growth hormone. Loss of sleep also can increase your blood sugar levels...this can increase insulin resistance! That can lead to Type 2 Diabetes...yikes! Sleep affects memory and coordination.
There are many different reasons why some people cannot sleep: vivid dreaming, lifestyle habits, stress, perimenopause, pregnancy, over training for an event, obesity....did you know that Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and herbal pills) can not only pinpoint the cause of your insomnia or poor sleep, but can treat the dysfunction and eliminate it over time?
Here's your healthy tip of the day: get more sleep. You'll lose more weight, you'll have fewer accidents, you'll be smarter, quicker, look and feel better. And if you are having trouble with your sleep, email me and we'll talk about a consult or visit to get you from 'sheepville' to 'sleepville'!!
