Drink The Blood Of Virgins????

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  A patient asked me today how is it I have done so many things in life, have had so many adventures and still look very youthful.  Here's the secret: live life with  gusto; you never know how long you have in this life.  Laugh and laugh big time, and lots of times.  No matter how horrible the situation, try to find something in the experience to laugh about....after all, isn't life ridiculous?  Have adventures in life....mediocrity breeds boredom.  When you have adventures, you have stories to pass on to others and they can experience your life and times through these tales - this is what begets immortality.  Above all, love and love with all you have.  You might be disappointed or hurt; nor may you receive the same love in return, but give it anyway - God sees All, and in the end, you will have a clean soul.  Tears of sorrow, tears of joy...drops of souls' dew in space and time manifest new beginnings and happy endings.  Confused?  Think about it this weekend.

It's Never To Late To Change For Long Lasting Health

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Today, I discharged a patient who had been seeing me once weekly for 3 months for a painful neuropathy.  This patient was willing to make minor changes in lifestyle to completely heal.  Today, this patient thanked me for giving back health and well being and giving this person the opportunity to 'live outside the box'.  New and exciting sporting activities have been discovered and enjoyed, new and exotic foods never tasted are now part of a healthy daily lifestyle and this person's quality of life is better than it's been for over 3 years.
We all have the opportunity to let go of old habits and 'racquets' (those behaviors we believe work for us when - in fact - they work against us) and embrace new adventures and opportunities to live a full, loving, healthy and exciting life.  Today, embrace something new - be bold!  Make a change that's GOOD for your mind, body and spirit.

Mind Health

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Creating your own dramas in your head can lead to hypertension, indigestion, insomnia, unnecessary stress on relationships and a compromised immune system in general.  Mind Health is just as important as biological health.  Leave the drama in the theatre where it belongs and live a healthy, happy and drama-less life.

Look In The Mirror, Who Do You See?

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Most people look in the mirror to see if their tie is straight, their hair is tidy or if they've lost or gained a few pounds.  How many of you look in the mirror to see 'who you are'?  The eyes are the windows to the soul.  When you look at yourself in the mirror, look into your eyes and ask yourself, 'have I been true, am I honest, have I hurt someone today, do I have integrity, and what am I the possibility of becoming?'  Today is Friday...go to the mirror and take a good, long look and ask yourself these questions.  Take the weekend to find the answers.

Where Are You And What Do You Want

In an Iyengar yoga class yesterday, the instructor gave us an intention to contemplate while doing our practice: "where are you and what do you want?".  This translated in my mind to 'I am here and now and I want it all'.  Part of this intention requires a plan and sticking to the intention given a well thought-out motis operandum.  This includes saying what I mean and doing what I say I will do.  Integrity, honor, and discipline go into this mix.  Too often, I encounter people who have no intentions, no plan, have no idea where they are nor what they want in this life.  They are the drifters....they wander here and there, but never attain a place because they've never had a real goal.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  stop for a minute today and think:  where am I?  What is it that I want?  Health, happiness, wealth, travel, business - make your answer your intention.  Have a plan and practice integrity, honor and discipline; in the end, you will get what you want.  Remember, we all stumble and have to tweak the motis operandum from time to time, but it is your friends that will see you through.  True frieinds are your looking glass consciousness and will call you when you don't say what you mean or don't do what you say!

Action/Reaction

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Landmark Education posted an unknown comment today on facebook that I liked very much.  It said 'life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it.  It's the old 'make lemonade out of lemons'...this is why some vets who have had a leg blown off run a marathon or triathlon while others sit in a wheelchair for the remainder of their lives.  It means that life has its twists and turns and it is your responsibility to always persevere with integrity, courage and dignity.  Think about it....Happy Monday.

I Believe, I Believe!

Remember when Tinker Bell and Peter Pan flew high in the sky and anything was possible?  It was because they BELIEVED they could fly; they believed that anything was possible.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Believe in yourself.  Believe you can be healthy and happy.  Believe that, if you try, you can achieve greatness - no matter how large or small the endeavor.  When you believe in yourself, you become an inspiration to others - they will believe in themselves because they believe you.  BE your WORD.  If you say you will exercise, then do it.  If you say you are the possibility of fitness and health and will eat accordingly, then DO IT.  No excuses...those are for losers.  You don't want to be one of those, do you?

Be Whoever Your Want To Be In Life

It's October and it's time to think about what we want to be for Halloween.  Halloween is my favorite holiday; no stress of whose relatives you don't want to see, no bad food you are obliged to eat....it's just a fun day to dress up and be whoever you want to be and go to parties.  In reflecting on who I am going to 'be' this Halloween, I thought about how many people go through life wishing they 'could have been' this or 'could have done' that.  Life is full of possiblities and YOUR life is a blank canvas.  It can be whatever you want it to be; YOU can be WHOEVER you want to be.  Of course, there are certain limitations....not all of us are smart enough to be rocket scientists, but we can be aeronautic mechanics.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Today, sit down and think to yourself and write this down..." I am the Possibility of Being.............".   You fill in the blank.  Will you be the possibility of being Kind, A Good Person, A Banker, An Artist, Compassion?  Once you have written down WHO you are as a Possibility, then commit to BEING that person.  I have always committed myself to being the possibility of Greatness.  Whenver I have decided to do something, I make a plan, stick by it, and achieve major results.  Defeat is never in the game plan.  What will you commit to today?

Fall is Here and Time for Transformation

Fall is a wonderful time of year. The leaves change from green to gold to burnt red and auburn shades - similar to the quadrants of a well-composed piece of music. But unlike the end of a song, life continues on and on, akin to a gradient circle of color. Fall is the time between the extremely heated and passionate summer and the frigid, icy, colorless winter. Just like its cousin, Spring, Fall is a time of transition. Cool mornings give way to warm afternoons, followed by chilly evening breezes. The clouds at sunset hang lower in the sky as the earth bends to reposition itself against the sun.  This is the time of year to embrace change. We change our clothes in the closet, we adapt to the receding sunlight and shortening of the days. We exchange our sandals and sunhats for closed shoes and berets. We begin to crave a bowl of hot soup and a good glass of red wine. We pursue indoor activities more and more.  Fall is the perfect time to plan for the reawakening colors and excitement of Spring. So during the next few months, while you are enjoying the changing colors of the leaves and sky, think about change. Change in terms of better health, less anxiety and stress, a new career, a better relationship with your friends, co-workers and loved ones…whatever it is that you can change in your life to make it better -try to make it happen. Practice those changes in baby steps over the next several months. By the time the warmer weather returns, you might be very surprised how just small adaptations and changes can make such huge differences in your life and the lives of everyone else around you.  Fall is also the time when many are fooled by the Indian summer-like afternoons and forget to take along a sweater, scarf or jacket when they leave home in the morning. This is the beginning of cold and flu season.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Take care of yourselves and take the time to remember various layers of clothing. Keep the back of your neck and throat covered; protected from the winds. The wind, in Traditional Chinese Medicine is considered to be the cause of 1,000 evils (diseases). And I couldn’t possibly sign off without advising you to schedule an appointment with me for a ‘fall tune-up’ to ensure you can romp and play thru all those great piles of leaves in good health!

Come Clean Inside and Out

It never ceases to baffle me how fear stops so many people from living their lives fully and with happiness.  Inertia not only prevents us from moving forward, but it stops all relationships around us from growing,  In fact, over time, fear becomes a 'cancer'.  It spreads...manifesting itself via emotional and physical maladies.  It shows on the outside as well - skin eruptions, weight gain/loss, fatigue-induced injuries, limp hair; the list goes on and on.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Whatever it is that stops you from doing your life, stop IT!  Change your motis operandum, look at the 'beast' directly in the eyes, and just kill it....before it tries to kill you.  You'll sleep better, your life will be happier - more fulfilled, and the relationships in your life will flourish.

Let Go Of Poor Habits

All of us love to hold onto something that makes our lives difficult...whether it is a conscious or subconscious choice.  It could be that last mile you think you cannot finish, that 2nd roll you just don't think you live without, or those silly communications gadgets you can't seem to turn off.  This week, challenge yourselves to look inside and find just one habit you stubbornly hold onto and let it go.  Transform the thought of "I can't" to "I sure can!"  We are now in the month of Leo, the only astrological sign that is ruled by the Sun.  The energy of this month is monumental and powerful.  Anyone you know who is a Leo is a natural born leader and their presence is felt before they enter a room.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Harness the Sun's energy and be Leonine in character!  Transform the negatives into positives.  Be steadfast and persevere on your journey to well being.  If you just don't think you can do it on your own, contact my office and together, we will compose a wellness program that will fit your lifestyle and help you shake off those poor habits and develop new, healthy and fun choices for life!

Imagination and Play

Imagination and Play...this is a photo of a 40yr old cruddy and broken down Sabrett hotdog cart that was filled with debris and quite an eyesore.  A little bit of imagination and playing around with some spray paint, decals and colorful flowers has now made an ugly eyesore an object of beauty and appreciation for many people.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  In all that you engage in life, take some time for a little bit of imagination.  Explore the countless positive possibilities that can become realities.  You'd be surprised what can happen.  I'm really thrilled that my latest art project came out so lovely; it has put smiles on many faces and a once ugly eyesore now sits pretty and proud for all to appreciate and enjoy!

Integrity...Are You Good For Your Word?

It always amazes me that people, no matter how rich or poor, whether they are pillars or business and society or your average Joe....many people are not good for their word.  People say they will do one thing, then either take no action or do something completely different.  I believe it is fear of the unknown or a little voice inside their head that keeps chanting 'what if.....', 'then this....'.
Quite silly if you ask me.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Stand strong and be good for your word.  If you aren't good for your word, you have no integrity.  You will hurt the people who love you and push them away.  You will lose the respect of all and in the end, it will only be yourself who suffers the consequences of not living up to your words.

Let's All Get Happy

So often, I hear stories of people stuck in dead end jobs, daydreaming about what they would do with their lives if only they could......

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you want to reach 90 years old and say to yourself or anyone around you 'if only I had, I wonder what would have...', so be it.  If you want to live life to its fullest and with gusto, then live your dreams!  As far as we can be certain, you've only got one shot at life, so better make it worth your while.  Quit that dead end job and go for what excites you in life.  If others in your life don't want to take the ride with you, then let them follow their own destinies.  When you're 90 years old, you might be rich or poor...it doesn't matter.  The stories you will have to tell will enrich the lives of those listening, just as the adventures made your life worth living!  Have a great Memorial Day Weekend...see you on Tuesday!

Make Your Own Miracle

The following was sent to me and I thought it was just so good, I had to share it with all of you today:

"Miracles don’t just happen. We make them happen—when we have the desire.
At whatever stage in life this email finds you, know that it’s possible to want more, and to be more. But we need desire. And we need inspiration.
When we see other people doing better than us, experiencing miracles, it reminds us—on a soul level—that the Light is there for us too. If we perceive lack in our own life, instead of feeling jealous of others, we can choose to be inspired to do more, to jump to the next level.
And if we pay close attention, we will find that the people who come into our lives are not there by accident. They are channels for the Light, sent to inspire us to change. When we are open, they can awaken us to a new stage of growth.
So when the people in your life demand that you stretch yourself, don't avoid them—let them in. And let them remind you that you CAN do it.
Most of us don't like to be around people who push our buttons. We'd rather hang out with peers, because it's more comfortable. We might think we can't handle stretching ourselves, but we can. Sure, feeling the pain of our ego is not pleasant, but, when we stick with it and don't run away, we wind up doing what we never imagined we could accomplish.
This week, look to the person who pushes you out of your comfort zone—not to those who accept you just as you are. The people we really need to be with are the ones that say, "I love you, but you can do more."
Don't let fear stop you from miracle making. Miracles are waiting to be made right in front of us."
- Yehuda Berg

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  There are those people out there (maybe it's you!) who do nothing but whine, complain, criticize and blame others for their own shortcomings in life.  These people take no action to change and transform their lives into something extraordinary.  These people are full of fear.  If this is you, print out this blog today and carry it with you.  Take it out several times a day and re-read it.  Stop waiting for someone else to make your miracle happen, because there are no magic bullets.  Only YOU can make your own miracle...so get on it now!! You will be happier, more fulfilled and satisfied, and you will be living your own dream!

The World Is Your Own Oyster

I was enjoying some oysters on the half shell one evening last week and found myself contemplating the phrase "the world is your own oyster".  If I've said it once, I've said it over a thousand times...Life is an Adventure and we are all entititled to live a full and extraordinary life.  Who we are is where we have been, who we have been with, and where we want to go.  We take with us on this journey of life a bag packed with all our joys, sorrows, dreams, regrets, loves, lies and anything else we think we need....OR DO WE?????
We coin the word 'baggage' as something we drag along with us on our life's adventure.  My oh my....that can be one really heavy bag, no?

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Live your live fully and with gusto.  Realize YOUR dreams, no one else's. And above all, be a smart traveller in life.  Open the bag and throw away all the 'baggage' that's weighing you down.  'Baggage' is like dirty underwear that's never washed; why shouldn't you clean out your 'lifebag' and carry 'fresh'?  Try it...you'll be happier, feel better without all that weight and you'll have a much bigger adventure!  Throw away your old, tired and dirty health habits.  Day by day, you'll find out how much better you are sleeping and how much more alert you are during the day.  When that happens, you'll really be living a full and extraordinary life because you'll really have the energy and health to fully enjoy your life!!

I Can, I Will, AND I DO!!!

No.....I'm not getting married for you wise guys out there!!!!  I'm talking about RUNNING!!!!!!
For a few months, every time I looked at the treadmill, I'd psyche myself out and that little voice in my head would say 'you can't, you'll look stupid doing 3 minutes on that thing, and you'll never run again'.

Two weeks ago, I told the voice in my head to SHUT UP!  I looked at the treadmill and said to myself, 'there's nothing wrong with you, get on that thing and just do your best'.  I CAN DO IT!!!!  Yesterday, I ran 45 minutes at an easy pce (approximately 4 miles), the last 5 minutes with 2.5lbs dumbells in my hands.  I feel great!!!!  Today, I'm going to do the same and make sure I get in my weight and strength training.  I've stopped saying 'I can't'.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Kill the little voice in your head that tells you you're no good, and tells you what you can and cannot do....YOU CAN, YOU WILL AND WILL DO!!....now, get out there and just do it!!!  No matter what you do, just try to do your best; speed, endurance and perfection can be attained; all you have to do is practice!
