Science Daily Sept 2011, recently published a finding that loneliness increases the risk of obesity. A study on rats revealed that greater socialization promoted the conversion of energy-storing white fat into energy-burning brown fat.
Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day: Instead of texting, emailing and phoning a friend, why not meet them and go for a walk, have a coffee, schedule a fun activity or workout session? If rats can lose more weight by being social, so can you! And, if you have children, get them off the couch, turn their IPhones off and go play some ball or running games outside with them. They need their exercise as well!
