Take 'Boring' Out of Water

Water intake is just so important to our daily homeostasis and general wellness.  Proper hydration (and I don't mean the booze) contributes to fewer muscle cramps, tighter turgor to the skin, better digestion, respiration and disposal of toxins from the body.
The complaint I hear most in my clinic is 'water is boring'.  Water can be quite exciting!  I don't start my day without a litre of water.  I mix up my intake by adding fresh lemon or limes or orange slices.  I might brew up another pitcher of natural green tea and drink this with my lunch...it's really wonderful with a few ice cubes.  Fresh mint sprigs added to boiling water and set cold in the frig makes for a great thirst quencher after a hard workout.  And lastly, a bit of sugar won't kill you.  If you can't stand the thought of drinking H2O, then mix it up.  1:4 (fresh juice to water) makes a nice mix.
Humans are made of over 70% water.  We constantly lose water everyday, so constant hydration is important to our survival.  Notice how folks who don't drink water usually have halotosis, dry flakey skin, suffer from constipation and have a general 'oudour'?  YUK!  Not very attractive, if you ask me!

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you want to lose weight, look good and feel good too, start drinking lots of water.  You'll recover faster from exercise, you won't smell when you perspire and you'll look younger.

  1. Hi Kelley, So true about water. I just started growing fresh mint. Besides smelling great adding to my salads (fruit and vegetable),summertime mojitos, juleps and ice tea, I never thought about boiling and chilling. Thanks for the tip!
Is it possible to drink too much water?

  2. Wow! Fresh mint is a wonderful way of breaking up the boredom of water and did you know...mint is fabulous for the digestion and can cool you off during the dog days of summer? Yes, you actually CAN overdo the water intake, but that would take several gallons per day without electrolyte supplementation. Boiling and chilling is great if you don't have filtered water because it takes out the bacteria from the water and chilled tea is just yummy in the tummy!
