Resilience Is Good For Your Health

One of the reasons why I like New York City so much (almost as much as Paris) is the resilience of its inhabitants.  During the same week, we've had an earthquake and a hurricane.  Yesterday, after the bulk of the storm had passed over the Lower Manhattan area where I reside, my companion and I went for a walk down to the Battery and along the waterfront in Battery Park City.  There wasn't a tree that had fallen, the squirrels were back out digging for some nuts, and both residents and tourists were out and about their business as usual.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Resilience and a good sense of humor is good for your health.  The ability to 'come back' after an operation, broken limb or illness and do it with a good sense of humor and spirit makes the difference between total healing or not.  Acupuncture can help not only with the physical component of healing, but also the mental aspect of the process.  If you've had difficulty dealing with the stress of the past week, why not come in for a relaxing session?  Your blood pressure and blood sugar will stabilize, you'll have peace of spirit and more energy to get on with the day's tasks at hand.  And remember....nobody likes nor wants to help a sourpuss, so put a smile on your face; it's not only good for your facial muscles but people will respond to you with more empathy and lightheartedness.

Imagination and Play

Imagination and Play...this is a photo of a 40yr old cruddy and broken down Sabrett hotdog cart that was filled with debris and quite an eyesore.  A little bit of imagination and playing around with some spray paint, decals and colorful flowers has now made an ugly eyesore an object of beauty and appreciation for many people.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  In all that you engage in life, take some time for a little bit of imagination.  Explore the countless positive possibilities that can become realities.  You'd be surprised what can happen.  I'm really thrilled that my latest art project came out so lovely; it has put smiles on many faces and a once ugly eyesore now sits pretty and proud for all to appreciate and enjoy!

Relax, Absorb, Participate, Share, & Enjoy

This past weekend brought so many surprises, good times and fun!  Social events brought new acquaintances, sharing of ideas gave new insights to conceptual content, and participating in all these activities with the person I love most brought joy and lightness of spirit.  I have a dear friend that would always tell me that the key to living Life fully is to:  relax, absorb, participate, share and enjoy.  Relaxing allows our minds and hearts to absorb our environs and the information being presented to us, whether it is conversation, a gallery exposition or new song on the radio.  This leads us into engaging and participating in the activity.  To share the experience with others leads to enjoyment of reaching out and interacting with other people; giving joy and love to all involved.  At the end of the day, you will place your head on your pillow with a smile on your face and fall asleep - relaxing into the arms of angels.
