Tuesday Timeout

Seaweeds on the Northern California Coast
Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Take a timeout today for 5 to 10 minutes and just relax.  The long weekend was chock-full of fun, food and friends. As you shovel through all those unread emails of the past 3 to 4 days, go back to this photo and wonder at the beauty of nature.  Tomorrow, I'll tell you all about the edible seaweeds and while they are as buttery and delicate as field greens, they are even better for your health!
Happy Tuesday!

Chronic Constipation

How many people do you know that walk around all day with their faces in a grumpy grimace?  How many folks do you speak with that constantly have halotosis, possess a permeation of odors oozing from their pores, belly bloating or really bad acne??  Here in Manhattan, we've lots of people walking the streets with these signs and symptoms of chronic constipation.  Chronic constipation can be painful, anti-social and lead to toxic buildup in the body.  The causes of chronic constipation can be one of many:  poor diet, abuse of enemas and other 'detox' drugs, anorexia, stress, obstruction in the bowels, chemotherapy....the list can be lengthy.
In my practice, chronic constipation is a typical complaint of many a new patient.  Whether this is the chief reason for their visit or just one of many conditions they are suffering, I treat chonic constipation with a variety of tools...acupuncture, chinese herbal formulas, diet exercise - whatever the patient needs, they receive.  Recently, I had one patient tell me that for over 30 years, there was only one bowel movement every 3 weeks or so for this person.  After 2 months of weekly treatments, this patient is experiencing 2 bowel movements per day.  There is no more bloating, weight gain, halotosis and there is now a boost of energy and quality of life not experienced until this point of life.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  If you or someone you know suffers from chronic constipation, make an appointnment today and get some relief!!  No need to walk around like a grump!
