Martial Arts Is Good For Your Brain

The Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport has recently published an article stating that martial arts training forces your brain to develop its area for concentration and memory.  Having trained in martial arts for years, I can tell you from experience when you are in the ring with an opponent, not only can you hear each and every comment being shouted in the audience, but you can also hear your trainer speaking to you from the corner as if there were no one else in the space.  You can also hear the quietness of you own breath as you observe each and every minute movement your opponent makes.  Quite the transcendental experience to be simple about it.

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Want to get into great shape and sharpen your memory and concentration?  Start practicing martial arts - from Tai Chi (gentle slow movements) to full contact MMA - you just can't beat the combination.  Just make sure you learn how to block and if engaging in full contact, wear protective headgear, please!
