Golfer's Elbow...Don't Work Through The Pain

Yesterday, my workout buddy was complaining about his elbow.  After some inquiry, I determined he had the beginnings of what we term 'golfer's elbow'.  In his case, it wasn't from golf, rather, from lifting too much weight, too quickly and without proper form.  Golfer's elbow is also known as tendinitis.  This is an inflamation of the tendons of the elbow and becomes worse with doing more of the activity that aggravated it in the first place.  So..what do you do??

Here's Your Healthy Tip of the Day:  Be smart and take my advice.  If you have 'golfer's elbow', don't work through the pain...that's just stupid.  Rest helps tremendously, but the application of both acupuncture and low level laser therapies is your best bet.  Myofascial release and muscular manipulation will land you into surgery and misery faster than you can say 'ouch'.  I treat this condition more than I'd like to (I'd like to lecture just on proper form during exercise), but that being said, I have tremendous success stories and all my patients are back to doing what they enjoy on the course or in the gym.  Oh yeah...and my workout buddy has an appointment in the office today!
